November 25, 200619 yr I'm wondering if anyone tried out a TEFL online course? Any recommendations on a good online course? / JH
November 25, 200619 yr An online course will go over all the functions/tenses/rules etc. of English. It will teach you next to nothing about teaching (practically). To learn how to teach it is best to study, observe, practice while being observed, then get feedback from your instructor. You'll get NONE of this from an online course. Even to do a 2 week course where you're in a classroom is going to be about a million, gazillion, trazillion times more effective at teaching you. -I'm not a teacher but know a fair bit about it, so if other posters who are see the above as a load of cock - believe them not me, but I think it's fairly accurate. There's an (apparently) good 2 week TESOL from a very reputable, mainstream company for only 400 buck's US in BKK, CNX, and Phuket. Not the sponsors of this site tho' Edited November 25, 200619 yr by thomo
November 25, 200619 yr they are totally worthless both practically and as a credential. if you are not yet in asia, youll be able to find some dodgy course for huge some of money so you can teach in thailand for 2.5 hours a day at b275 per hour. chok dee
