Report by the Pattaya One News Team

PATTAYA: -- At 11pm, on the evening of September 18, Pattaya police raid teams visited The Cliff Pool Club at Pratumnak after receiving reports there was an unlicensed party underway.

The location has solid walls and security had been placed at the entrance. Inside the venue DJ Boom Cash was playing and Mr. Rujiphan Homsood, a thirty-two year old from Rachburi, owner of K.A.G Win, identified himself as the host of the party.

Mr Ptinya Thanchai, a twenty-seven year old from Kalasin said he was the promoter of the event.

Officers conducted a search permitted under Article 44.

All present were tested for drug use and three teenagers were positive. Lucky draw tickets for K.A.G Prizes were discovered, which is against the gambling laws. They have been sent for further inspection.

Mr. Rujiphan said that he rented the premises from Flick Cliff and Pool Club Co., Ltd., the landowner for one day for the Boom Cash concert without knowing it was against the law.

He said that all the lottery tickets were only meant to be for fun and was not real gambling as no money had changed hands.

They have been charged with hosting a public event without a permit, gambling and alcohol use.

The premises were shut down and the two men will be sent for trial.

Somebody got a bunch of cash in their pocket.

so customers paid for tickets.  Promoter and owner got money.  Concert raided, and closed.  Little or no concert.  Customers out their money and got no show.  Now what?  The accused make some payoffs and walk away?  What's to stop something like this to happen in the future, but this time with the police or military in on it and the whole thing is a sham from the get go?  Bad things can happen when there is no oversight

Want oversight? Go back to Farangland. Plenty there for your enjoyment!

"Lucky draw tickets for K.A.G Prizes were discovered, which is against the gambling laws. They have been sent for further inspection."

The so called "gambling laws" are archaic nonsense.

"Officers conducted a search permitted under Article 44."

It appears that article 44 is now subject to misuse and gives these pseudo officials the power of life and death.

Going on some pictures of private pool parties I have seen, this must have been a very disappointing raid for the "raiding Party" as everyone seems over dressed... :P

Illegal Concert, how disconcerting!

He said that all the lottery tickets were only meant to be for fun and was not real gambling as no money had changed hands. Yet!!!

Just as well the "alleged" concert-goers weren't playing Bridge! http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-35491852

Anyone know how to have a legal concert, on private property that has been leased for the day, with only a DJ playing?

And as for the gambling, better make a note to not have any lucky draws at anymore of our office parties.

Just gets worse & worse.................................

Didn't see anything in the OP suggesting anyone paid for tickets.

Perhaps i missed that or didn't see the link for the full story.

They often have pool parties, quite good from what I hear. Free entrance but buy your drinks. No problem here.

that is a sweet bar at a great location. bit expensive but ok of you buy a bucket of beers. really worth visiting if you are around pratumnak with one of your special girls.

What bugs me is that the fact that the  govt Lottery is perfectly ok.........causes misery for a lot of Thais who get into debt because of it..

Hypocrisy at its worst........

Thank you mibs, one more time the world is safer thanks to you !

I guess so, unless you live nearby and fancy a night's sleep.

Was in the area around 8 p.m.......passed the club; great music, lots of people.....great fun.

OK, it was pretty loud (so far for the solid walls), but where in Pattaya can a quiet place be found?

Private parties are being held in Pattaya every night at various locations, with or without tombola's/lotteries and bingo's.

It's all a matter of getting the freakin' "license".......

I won't be long and huge billboards along the inbound motorway will welcome Pattaya's guests: "Welcome to Pattaya, Vatican City of Thailand"

Even pinball machines are considered gambling devices.
