Tingtong69
Reading a lot about turmeric, with new studies suggesting huge health benefits if we include it in our diets, inc cancer, pain relief and many other ailments. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-37408293 The tricky bit is that turmeric (and it's magic ingredient curcumin ) is hard to absorb into the blood stream. Studies show it's best to add it to food and it seems that adding 5% black pepper can make it more potent. A daily smoothy using coconut milk as a 'carrier' may be a good way to go. Sheryl
Actually only one "study" is reported on in this article and it was done informally, not reported on n any scientific literature and is highly unlikely to have met international scientific research standards. Very small sample size and too short a duration to track health outcomes, among other things. And it's results did not show what is claimed above. Only that there was a change in what may have been DNA methylation (unclearly reported - this is not a scientific article). There is indeed interest in possible health effects of curcumin and research to that point underway, but it is far from being established . Closed in keeping with Health Forum Rules: 4.
