Hi All,

 

         I recently purchased a Kodi Android box for use on our spare TV but it appears the HDMI sockets in the TV are dead. If I purchase a lead with a USB plug at each end would the device then work?

 

         I tested everything on our main TV and it was fine.

 

        Any suggestions appreciated :)

No, USB won't carry video.

Are you sure it isn't just a dodgy HDMI cable, or perhaps you have the box set wrong?  (PAL/NTSC) etc?

 

i have an lg and android box works fine, did you set up the box in lg's settings ( device manager) set as '' other box''

Usually dodgy cables as mentioned. I'd try another cable first.

Is the android box a Minix? Have you tried using a different device with the LG TV using HDMI.

                   Re LG settings; That might work but how do I do it (i'm not familiar with LG- its the wife's TV:) ) ?

On our two LGs (both 4 year old devices) we just choose input on the remote and rotate thro the choices TV,AV1,AV2,Component, HMDI1,HDMI2,HMDI3,RGB. Only hard part is remembering which of the 3 HDMI ports I've plugged into!

There are known issues with LG television HDMI driver compatibility with Minix boxes. It may well apply to other brands of android boxes. My Minix box didn't work with LG but did with other TV sets. I had to get the media player changed and that resolved the issue. Given the LG driver issue, you may be having a similar problem which is why I suggested testing the TV with another device such as a DVD player.
