Do i need to apply for 60 day Turistvisa from home ?

Featured Replies

Hi, i travel to thailand for 55 days, i bought ticket  arrive and departure is 55 day between, but, i will go to Singapore before after circa 25 days, and come back and then i have 25 days in Thailand

So the question is, do i need a 60 day turist visa, because, my departure date going home is not within a visa on arrival 30 days. ?

Or can i simply get visa on arrival, go to singapore after 25 days come back, get visa on arrival again ?

Thanks
J

It depends on your nationality. "Visas on Arrival" are only available to the citizens of a few countries and allow a 15 day stay at a cost of 1000 Baht.

Obviously you are not referring to visa on arrival but to visa exempt entry (30 days).

When you fly in from Singapore you will get another 30 days.(I assume you don't come from Singapore overland?).

But!

Be aware that you should have proof of onward travel to show to the airline at check-in at your start location.

Some airlines might refuse boarding with a 55 day return ticket and no proof of onward travel (and no visa).

It's always wise to state nationality, from where you fly and what airline.

If you have the ticket for Singapore then will be no problem.  Otherwise it might be.  It all depends on the airline you come with and how they are feeling on the day, there is no 100% rule that you can apply.

Sorry, very valid questions yes.

I am Danish nationality, we have 30 day visa on arrival.

I fly with Norwegian airlines, direct flight CPH-BKK  ( then not yet booked BKK-SGD SGD-BKK ) and return after 55 days BKK-CPH

The Thai embassy in Copenhagen write to me, just use Visa on arrival, but, my worry is they say at checkin, you can not go to Thailand for 55 days, on a visa on arrival 30 day, you need valid visa for that.

What is the best option then ?

The best option is to book your ticket to SIN.  Then you will have no problems.  Or get a visa, then you will have no problems.  Do neither and you MIGHT have problems....nothing is sure in this world,

I think your best option is to get a SETV before traveling that will give you  permission to stay for 60 days.

When you go to Singapore you can buy a re-entry permit (1,000 baht), at the airport, and when you return the IO ill use the re-entry permit and stamp you back in for the remainder of your original 60 day stay.

Roll the dice.

Either s single tourist visa or determine some date for your flight to SIN.

Most oneways are about 40 to 50 Euro (booked from Germany, no idea about Denmark).

I would take the risk (that your plan changes) and book a oneway from the airchair instead of going through the visa hassle (sending passport or applying in person).

Your risk: 50 Euro - ~30 Euro (cost for visa) = 20 Euro.

(too lazy to calculate with Danish crowns)

Ok, so its down to the judgement,

We dont have any clear rules on this right.

So its down to the same  options

Get the visa

or get the Singapore flights booked right away.

Thanks for the help.

Some will see this as nitpicking, but understanding things exactly will help to prevent problems. Learn both the correct terminology, and the wrong terms people commonly use.

On entry into Thailand, you do not need to go to the "visa on arrival" desk because you are not entering using a visa. You are benefiting from the right to a "visa exempt entry" and can go straight to the immigration entry counters.

At check-in, depending on the airline, they may want to see a confirmed onward (not necessarily return) ticket within 30 days. I think you are being advised by your airline that they are satisfied with the 55-day return ticket (many are) but it may be safer to have your Singapore flight confirmation to show them at check in.

Other than that, stop worrying. Your plans are fine.
