More than 100 members of the Mahakan Fort community sit along the walkway yesterday after blocking the community’s four entrances with metal sheets and wood to prevent BMA officials from entering. No demolition will be allowed on the site until a multilat

BANGKOK: -- THE MAHAKAN Fort community has sealed itself off after thwarting the latest raid by authorities to demolish more houses.

"The four gates of the community are blocked by residents around the clock to make sure that no one can encroach," Pornthep Buranaburidet, a deputy community leader, said yesterday.

"There were a hundred officials from Phra Nakhon district and the Public Works Department, along with their trucks," he said.

Wait for the front hoe to arrive..... ho ho ho!!

maybe they have been taking notes from a certain monk:rolleyes:, goes to show everyone that many thais think they are above the law and can ignore the authorities as they please. These people need to realize they cannot make demands about things they do not own, time to send in the army and heavy machinery

No need to send in big machines. If it's a wall they want, enclose them with a 5-metre high retaining wall and cut of power and electricity.

It seems the government allowed all these homes to be built there, why don't they just give them some land somewhere to relocate, and help them do it. If there were hi-so involved it would be no problem.

Section 44 will fix this

I thought that's what they were doing?  Relocating them.

Unfortunately, they have been living free on some prime real estate.  It's amazing they are just now moving them

government has been clearing out a lot of illegal squatters and land encroachment for the past year...

Yeah get out and relocate. They aren't paying for the rebuilding of their homes, just gave them some time to dismantle. I may be wrong let me know if you know they are being fairly relocated.

Not sure, but I thought they were giving them homes?
