PATTANI: -- Suspected militants shot dead a petrol station assistant and then set off two bombs planted near the station in Pattani’s Kok Pho district Thursday, wounding six officials and civilians as they were at the scene for an investigation.

According to witness accounts, four suspected militants with their faces covered up and wearing crash helmets arrived at the petrol station in two motorcycles.

Without any apparent provocation, one of the pillion riders shot to death Ms Thirapat Chantharotewong, a station assistant. Then all of them carried two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) made of picnic gas cylinders and placed beside a construction materials shop which is located next to the petrol station.

As the four men were making their escape, a defence volunteer who came across the incident opened fire at them, reportedly wounding one of them.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers inspect the damaged petrol station.

PATTANI: -- SUSPECTED insurgents shot dead a female petrol-station employee in Pattani’s Khok Pho district yesterday afternoon and then set off two home-made bombs, injuring seven people, as state officers responded to the shooting.

Around 20 minutes after Teerapat Chantharojwong, 31, was shot at around 12.40pm by four gunmen on two motorcycles, police officers were inspecting the scene in Tambon Bang Kora when the bombs - one in metal pipe, another in a cooking gas cylinder placed on a shelf at a building materials shop - went off.

Come on, they're just acting according to religious scripture. Don't be so intolerant :)

RIP Ms Thirapat Chantharotewong & condolences to your family and friends.

And the political jaws keep moving but still nothing changes after 10 years.

How sick can you get. OK, soldiers and paramilitaries, even teachers at a pinch, as representatives of the State, but a petrol station attendant? Weird! Makes you wonder where these guys are coming from.
