Huge official headache: backlog of 4.25m Sor Khor 1 deeds

PIYAPORN WONGRUANG
THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- ABOUT 4.25 MILLION land possession documents, or Sor Khor 1, used as a proof for the issuance of land-deed documents have not yet been stamped and approved by the Lands Department’s clearance system, the department revealed recently.

The enormous backlog has shocked some members of the committee expediting forest reforms under the National Reform Steering Assembly, as they have realised just one such a document could enable the "grab" of an enormous area of forest if abused. The risk of this became evident in recent cases including the high-profile one involving former land official Thawatchai Anukul.

How was such a backlog accumulated, officials on a ' go slow ' and sometimes deliberately so ?

I suppose there's a way to speed things up then later the ownership mess will start all over again with disputed papers etc at the heart of it.

must be as theyre all too honest

The Lands Department, now that's a whole different level of ineptness even within the flusterclucked administration.

I'm glad most foreigners will never have to deal with them unless your Thai partner is keen. :passifier:

Getting to grips with technology and stream lining red tape

for the ASEAN partnership, sure is a case for disaster

when one of the partners can not even get land titles

processed. surely all the inactive police

could sit in a corner and STAMP! or just another problem waiting to happen,

as they would be likely gravitate towards an   RSI injury

Those who pay can play the game. Those that don't pay don't play in the game. Remember the Land Office is the Number One Corrupt Agency in Thailand. I l always thought it was the police! There Number Two!

Laurel and Hardy management skills on display....everywhere :)
