Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I don't understand how re-entry permits work.  I have a multi-entry non-immigrant O visa based on marriage.  Do I need a re-entry permit to leave and then come back a week later or are the permits for people on single entry visas that allow that them to enter multiple times?

Thanks a lot,

Westen

If you have a multiple entry non-o visa from a embassy or consulate you do not need a re-entry permit since the visa allows you unlimited 90 day entries.

Re-entry permits are needed by those on extensions of stay from immigration to keep them valid. They are also for those that only get one entry from a visa and want to keep that one entry valid if they want to travel during that entry.

If you have a Multiple Entry Visa you don't need a Re-entry Permit as long as you are re-entering before the visa expires.
