Dog Poisoning In Kathu Thani

Featured Replies

One of my dogs died of strychnine poisoning tonight. We are mourning the loss of a loyal pet and dear friend.

Some of the neighbours have since told us that there have been a few dog disappearances lately - it seems that somebody (Tessaban?) is addressing the soi dog problems without bothering to put notices up to inform pet owners that there are traps around.

I walked her daily, she must have ingested something tonight in the exact same places I have walked her for the last 3 months.

It is not easy watching your dog drown in its own fluids, sh*tting and vomiting all over the place; especially when she was a soi puppy that was rescued from a motor accident at a very early age in the first place.

Be careful, you may be getting set up for a robbery. Other posters have reported poisonings prior to being broken in to in the night.

Sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the warning, but I don't think that is the case here. She was a hopeless guard dog, afraid of her own shadow; but a *lovely* pet. The neighbours (Thai) are also missing their pets, one on my left and one a couple of doors down

I had two rehabilitated soi dogs, one young and curious, one old and wise. The young one died the sad death tonight.

Thanks again.

Im really sorry about the story you have got

anyway .. for emergency situation

- if your are sure what is the exactly poison substance ( except caustic solution)..and your dog is concious)

1 clean your dog

2 induced him/her to vomit by feeding H2O2 cocktail ( use hydrogen peroxide 3% : water = 1-2 :10)

3 feed him /her with activated charcoal

4 5-10 mins later induced him/her for vomitting again

5 repeated 2-4 for few times

6 bring him / her to see a vet asap .. and tell a vet what's kind of the exactly substance.. a vet will give an antidote

**in case of caustic solution

acid poisoning - neutral it with base as soda bicarbonate solution)

base poisoning - neutral it with acid as vinegar

but dont induce your pets for vomitting

* * a hint for cats .. dont give any acetaminophen(tylenal , paracetamal) .. they dont have any enzyme from their liver to metabolise that medicine, and it will make your cat get sick, coma and die

So sorry for you Slackula!

Same thing happened to one of my street dogs about 3 years ago. I will never forget this!

Thnks for the kind words, her untimely demise has left a big hole to fill. Madam Slackula and I are pretty bummed out about this to say the least, we loved the dumb mutt to pieces.

So sorry to hear about your poor dog

As someone who is coming to Phuket to live in Feb and was intending to get a dog I am concerned and coupled with the Tuk Tuk violence reports, things are looking not so nice

Again sorry for your loss here

Mike
