Now that's devotion - tears of joy as Granddad Parn reaches the palace

Emotions were high as 84 year old "Granddad Parn" reached the Grand Palace yesterday after his epic journey from Buriram in a samlor.

 

Parn Meunyot set off from his birthplace on the 15th after hearing of the death of His Majesty. He used hand power to propel his "Royal Chariot" as he has limited use of his legs.

 

His vehicle is decked out in the pictures and words of the man he idolized - King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great whose body is resting within the palace walls.

 

With a salute and a smile the journey was finally over. He said he was tired but oh so happy that he had been able to fulfil his mission.

 

He was helped on the way by donations of food and drink from an admiring public who have followed news of his journey from the North East of Thailand every day.
