A bottlenouse dolphin which was rescued from the shore of Patong Beach today (October 22) died whilst being taken to the Phuket Marine Biology Centre (PMBC).

At around 11:30am local rescue were called in to render assistance at Patong Beach where a sick dolphin was found washed ashore.

Kusoldharm rescue workers along with beach lifeguards tried to pull the marine mammal back to the sea, but the dolphin kept swimming back ashore, so the rescue staff informed the Phuket Marine Biological Centre (PMBC) and requested assistance.

PMBC officials arrived at the scene and arranged transportation of the dolphin to their facilities, but the mammal died before reaching the centre.
