BANGKOK, 22 October 2016 (NNT) – The Metropolitan Police have suggested the people traveling to the Grand Palace to pay homage to the late King Rama IX that they use public transportation instead of private vehicles to help ease traffic congestion in the area.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn said that the overall situation has remained in orderly fashion with more than 300,000 people were expected to arrive in the area.

He said the officials have provided conveniences and safety measures with more CCTV units and checkpoints installed for the mourners who were advised to use public transports to ease traffic congestion in the area.

The general public are also advised to take care of their health under the hot and humid weather while emergency lanes will be available on all roads at all time. The public can call Hotline 1197 for travel advice.

The Bangkok police chief thanked all the people for their cooperation at the times of road closure around the Grand Palace.
