There will be a special live nationwide TV program on the Launching Ceremony of the First Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis (DART II) System in the Indian Ocean, at the Cape Panwa Sea Port, near the Phuket Marine Biological Centre, south-east Phuket, this Friday 1st December 2006, at 10:00-11.00 am, broadcast on TV Channel 11 and Thai Global Networks, in Thai and English languages.

Ok - I'll byte ... what is the significance? There may or may not be another tsunami in the region for another 200 yrs.

Great to know that the Thai scientific community is now in tune with world geographic/ climactic events but... how about we all concentrate on immediate problems now - like justified GLOBAL WARMING???

Can we all agree to disagree that we have a problem or 50 that stems from the fact that we all refuse to believe our collective actions contribute to a major global environmentaL CATASTROPHE?

<b>Andaman News TV program in English plans to return next week Monday to Friday 4 to 8 December after a break due to nationwide broadcasts about floods in Thailand. The Monday program will feature special reports on the Launching Ceremony of the First Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis (DART II) System in the Indian Ocean, at the Cape Panwa Sea Port, and the visit by former US President Bill Clinton, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery, to a Sea Gypsy village in Phuket to view progress on home construction and livelihoods, and to launch an environmental initiative; plus news on the Laguna Triathlon and start of Kings Cup regatta this week.</b>

Later in the week or month, we plan to have interviews about a famous yacht that sailed around the world in 1966-7 and is on 2nd journey through Phuket this month; about an exclusive private island development of villas and hotel in Phuket; about an award winning hotel in Khao Lak, Phang Nga; about tourism recovery in Khao Lak; and about a charity teaching English at local government schools; plus more special reports on the Baba-Peranakan Festival; on tsunami handicrafts; on the Soi Dog Pound home & recovery centre; and on a PSU university Open Week with talented linguistic students.

Andaman News is usually on air most Mondays to Fridays, at 8.30-9am, in English, with the latest local Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi news, reports, interviews and weather forecasts on local TV Channel 11 (VHF dial, not UBC) and also on Radio Thailand FM90.5, both to Phuket, Phang Nga & Krabi provinces. The TV program may also be repeated afterwards on Phuket Cable channel 1 with scheduled times of 9.30am; 3.30, 7.30, & 11.30pm, 01.30am. The news text is usually posted on Thaisnews.com at 8.00am on each day of broadcast.
