NongKhaiKid
The pickup was supposedly swerving from side to side before it hit the other vehicle and the BIB suspected the driver had fallen asleep. Did they bother to breathalize him ?

Psimbo
I'm amazed at the number of people on Phuket who manage to 'fall asleep at the wheel'. Yes I know in this case he was headed southbound and could have traveled a long way but its quite a common occurrence.

Xircal
Looking at the damage to the front of the pickup it looks almost as if there was enough force to send the engine into the passenger compartment. I guess the airbag or maybe his seatbelt saved the driver from being catapulted through the windscreen.

Maybe that's why they speculated that the driver had fallen asleep, because there was no evidence of the driver being drunk? Maybe it would have been a good idea if the police had asked the pickup driver what actually happened A bit of a novelty for them I know Then no speculation needed
