NoshowJones
I went to Bangkok Banks headquarters in Silom to ask about the BTS card which you can keep topping up. I was told I can go to any Bangkok Bank in any province except Bangkok to get this card. In my experience with Thailands banks, a lot of bank employees don't know about certain things, and each branch of a bank have their own rules. Does anyone have any experience in getting this card, and how they got it? This being Thailand, nothing is ever simple, so do I believe what I was told at the Bangkok Banks headquarters? SaintLouisBlues
Then wait 6 months until it's replaced by the Spider Card for all mass transit systems - which may or may not be available as a debit card from Bangkok Bank

There's no point in holding your breath for anything in Bangkok - the traffic fumes will kill you first

lopburi3
Actually Bangkok Bank had a BTS Visa debit card without chip and that may still be available upcountry as still valid through 2019 - in Bangkok suspect they will only issue chip type cards now. UnionPay version (TPS) offers both BTS and BRT but not as many merchants accept (but it uses PIN verification for every purchase so quite secure).
