yellowboat
Wonder who provides the necessary checks and balances in such decisions ? From now until whenever, it would seem the military. They will decide what is good, bad and fair for Thai society. That is not a worrisome thought in the least.
thai3
My 7 year old Thai niece knows how to view 'blocked' websites, they are deluding themselves if they think their bans will stop people looking at what they want.
rkidlad
Do they not know how unbelievably easy it is to get onto any of the banned sites? Porn sites are so easy to access with a quick proxy. So my mate tells me.

I would like to see YouTube completely closed down because I categorise it as the dark side of the Internet. Dont like it, dont watch it! People that are offended by anything and everything, cant think for themselves to find a positive, etc... will find such things offensive and therefore should stick to pre programmed canned laughter brady bunch tv :) No offense personally but i see another side. Let homophobs and racists get it all off there chests. Let people speak and they will be naturally be put back in there place and in time just gradually these trolling childish commenters on youtube may just see the world in a more appreciative manner. There is many kinds of people from all walks of life on this planet. Give them all a brush and have them paint i say. Would be a prettier. You tubes free. I hate the comments but i say it equals out. But it is also offensive to rewrite history and supress the truth because you dont like it. It goes both ways.

DM07
“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so $%#^&*@ what." Stephen Fry

If you feel that a given video is offensive you can report it as such and if YT agrees with you, they'll take it offline. Some material is indeed offensive or racist, but I wouldn't label the whole site as being repugnant just because of a few distasteful videos that appear from time to time. Close down Youtube, how silly. Youtube also has tons of educational videos. The really nasty stuff is searchable through TOR. Youtube is a valuable tool and an example of free speech. jayboy
I have received an email from my ISP which provides detailed instructions on how to inform on LM offenders that I might come across on the web or social media.Actually I am quite sympathetic to the objective as I am a convinced supporter of the monarchy in Thailand and also strongly dislike sniping at those who can't defend themselves from the sidelines. But there are two problems for me in dealing with the ISP request. For a European with a sense of history the concept of informing on fellow citizens for political reasons is an appalling one - conjuring up the Nazi and Soviet regimes.Secondly - and this is just a subjective position - I simply don't believe there is a significant level of LM abuse.I know many Thais of all sorts and conditions - and have never come across other than respect and affection for the institution. So I shall ignore the ISP request.
