Does anyone have any experience of the Visa Direct remittance system, where funds are transferred from card to card more or less instantly?

Are you referring to direct deposit.   If you have a Thai lady available have her call the bank directly if no other option.

Thai banks are properly not that eager to adopt VISA direct since they already have their own system for instant bank transfers, so why give their profit to VISA?

 

Are you looking to make international transfers from a Thai bank account? That is the only place where I could see VISA direct having a place (although I can already do international transfers via internet banking).
