November 9, 20169 yr A Malaysia-based automobile conglomerate plans to set up a factory assembling vehicles and producing spare parts in Cambodia. Tan Chong Motor Holdings CEO Tan Heng Chew spoke about his company’s wish to invest in the country after meeting Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday. The idea is for Nissan vehicles to be assembled and for parts to be made. No details have been revealed of the size of the investment or where the plant might be located. Mr. Heng Chew said his company had assembled cars for 60 years and had experience in parts production for 45 years. It had factories in Vietnam, Malaysia and Myanmar. “So we should consider putting factories in Cambodia to serve the Cambodian market and Asian market, as well as other markets in the world,” he said.
