More loans approved to urge farmers to delay selling their crops

BANGKOK: -- The government yesterday approved a loan scheme to encourage farmers to delay selling their rice sales until prices moving up.

At the weekly meeting yesterday, the cabinet approved the scheme to offer loan to farmers to encourage them to slow down their sale of unmilled Pathum Thani fragrant rice and paddy to warehouses as proposed by National Rice Policy and Management Committee.

Paddy farmers will receive a payment of 10,500 baht per ton, divided into 7,000 baht in loan, 2,000 baht in harvest subsidy and 1,500 baht in storage subsidy.

Meanwhile, the farmers with unmilled Pathum Thani fragrant rice will be paid 11,300 baht per ton, divided into 7,800 baht in loan, 2,000 baht in harvest subsidy and 1,500 baht in storage subsidy.

Perhaps it is a way to say we will give you money "Now" and pay later or the farmer will lose his farm for a non compliance of repayment.

Hard situation for all farmers and they will be freed when they reach haven.

Good to know they will make every effort to ensure the uneducated farmers will not be exploited and cheated by the Chinese Millers and storage warehouse owners and other middlemen, who of course do not need to get any richer.....

And what if something happens to the stored rice? It can get wet, insects, fungus, weevils, rats, stolen....

Like last time they had a rice auction the successful bidders later found out their rice was not there, or it was rotten, or it was not to specification. In Thailand nothing changes. The only thing that remains constant is that the middle men money grubbers are always lying in wait.

^ only constant is stupidity.

Yingluck done much same and it was disaster, you can't stockpile rice as it only going be useful if another main supplier has a massive disaster such as drought or tsunami.

yingluck stockpiled it and india smiled and released thousands of tonnes into export & made thailand disappear lol .

It this poor storage, resale and marketing and fact buyers are bored of thai bullsh1t that the problem, india & vietnam can produce enough to pretty much knock thailand out the game and they improving yearly while thailand going backwards .

Rice farming for thailand is close to rock bottom disaster and  buck banana man is clueless .

Other rice exporting countries are happy as H! More sales for them!

Brilliant!  Stockpile the rice until the price goes up then sell and make everybody rich.  What could possibly go wrong?

^

india & vietnam produce enough to fill the void leaving you with millions of tonnes of rice no one wants .

oh wait, this happened already lol ask yingluck. same same but different as buck banana idea now lol .

rice farming is finished for thailand besides some more special rice grains .

This is why with only 10 rye we don't sell a whole lot and keep some for seeding and perhaps 10 bags for eating during the year so for now no need to borrow money all it is paid for and we are self sufficient with fruit trees fish in pond chicken on farm and ducks .

Veggies are growing good and we are happy it is not a commercial farming just sort of hobby.
