November 11, 20169 yr Spending to drop 15% in this year’s Loy Krathong festival BANGKOK: -- Spending by Thais during the Loy Krathong festival which is to start end of this week in some provinces is expected to fall 15% as it is still in the mourning period of all Thais. According to the Thai Chamber of Commerce, it predicted that the Loy Krathong Festival 2016 would generate an income of over 9.6 billion baht, a decrease of about 15.6 per cent when compared with the same period from last year. It was the first decline for the festival in 4 years, as the country remains in mourning for the late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, said director of the Centre for Economic and Business Forecasting (CEBF) under the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) Mr Thanawat Polwichai. The centre conducted survey result on the behaviour and spending of the public during the upcoming Loy Krathong Festival 2016. The majority of the sample group expressed that they still have plans to join the Loy Krathong celebrations but in a toned down mood, as most are still in grief about His late Majesty’s passing. November 11, 20169 yr well there you go. i thought it was cancelled. think many other would have thought the same. if it is only down 15% i think thats not too bad considering the mixed information given out.
November 11, 20169 yr 15% down WOW do they have any stock market tips for me maybe 15% up. They are better at up predictions than down.
November 11, 20169 yr Do I detect a slight note of realism in some very recent forecasts about exports, tourism and the public's spending habits? Perhaps it is because they believe that this time around they have a very good reason for any downturn, which Thais will fully understand, whereas the usual standard excuses of global recession, and even Brexit, were wearing a bit thin. The proximity to year-end might be one reason to avoid forecasts which will soon be proved to be overly optimistic. November 11, 20169 yr Big opportunity for tourists, you can see the real thing rather than the ersatz version that it usually presented. This is the time to visit Thailand.
November 11, 20169 yr ^^ You mean the version that YOU deem "the real thing" and not the one that Thais like to do for years now? I bet you also want to force a "quiet & respectful" Songkhran on the majority, that is quiet happy with loud, colorful and exessive! Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect
