PHUKET: A wild macaque died yesterday (Nov 11) from injuries it sustained after it received an electric shock on Nov 5.

Mr Pongchat Chuahom, Chief of the Nature and Wildlife Education Centre at the Khao Phra Thaew None-Hunting Area in Thalang told The Phuket News yesterday, “Today we were notified that a wild macaque that received an electric shock on Nov 5 died at 1am this morning. Doctors confirmed that the death was caused by injuries the animal sustained to its internal organs after receiving an electric shock.

“Officials were sent to pick up the body of the macaque so it could be buried..”

On Nov 5, Mr Pongchat was notified that a wild macaque had received an electric shock whilst it was in the Mudong canal in Wichit. Following the incident the animal was taken to a veterinary clinic in Srisoonthorn.

If a monkey can manage to get electrocuted in a canal, it's not hard to imagine children (or drunks) suffering the same misfortune.  Has anybody investigated how/why the incident occurred and arranged for necessary rectification or repairs?

Don't be silly

That would require 2 things

1) Some one to think this is a problem

2) Find some one who knows what he is looking for  :whistling:

I wonder  if it has to do with the 220 volts, or power line and water too close by.  Or maybe the

monkey dipped a stick into water while holding on a power line.  Oh the possibilities!

Geezer
