Thai cop: Use your eyes not just your GPS please!

PHETCHABUN: -- A policeman in Phetchabun has advised tourists to use their eyes not just their GPS systems as yet another car ended up in the creek.

 

The accident happened on a hilly stretch on the Phu Than Berk - Meuang Beng road in the north eastern province.

 

Lom Kao cop Yutthana Pongsai said that people unfamiliar with the road are always ending up in the undergrowth because they are fixated by their GPS systems, reported Sanook.

 

He urged the people who update the GPS to study the area that now has a new route.

 

"It happens all the time here, " he said. "Tourists should study the road, not just their GPS".

 

In the latest accident three people in a car ended up off the hilly road.

Looking at a screen other than your windscreen is a poor choice. 

Makes a change. It's usually the phone they're fixated on.

Or you could update the maps more often than every 10 years. 

Happens all the time there, nothing done about it regardless....just how I like my stupidity reading, eh, news.

How is it possible to end up outside the road using a GPS ? Unless it was completely dark and no lights. 

The GPS said "bear right" so the driver swerved left to avoid the grizzly.

Same thing!!!  I use Google maps on my phone even in Thailand and LISTEN to the instructions!!!!!!!!!!
