Should the EU be dismantled or allowed to fall apart?

There are a couple of active threads running about Brexit, but this thread is for constructive discussion about the structure known as the European Union.  Given the Brexit vote, and the repercussions of the Trump vote, should there not be some positive action by EU to reform drastically, or should the member states repeal the treaties binding the EU together, or should it be left to fall apart and the last man out has to switch the lights out?  This affects many countries, not only UK with it's Brexit. Netherlands, Denmark, Italy and other EU countires have significant numbers of people supporting an exit.

Here's some interesting and up-to-date background.
