Dumped Body Suspect Revealed

A man has been arrested over the murder of a woman whose body was found wrapped in a blanket on a garbage dump. Military police on Friday revealed they had arrested Yen Sopanha, 20, who was taken into custody on Thursday in Kandal province where he fled after he killed the teenage girl and left her body at the garbage dump. 
 

According to the official Facebook page of the Royal Gendarmerie on Friday, its officials arrested Mr. Sopanha in Kandal’s Koh Thom district, where he fled because he was scared police would arrest him.  “The suspect confessed that because he was in debt for $200, and always used drugs, he decided to kill the victim in order to take her property,” read the Facebook post. 
 

On Wednesday, the body of a teenage girl wrapped in a blanket with her limbs bound by rope was discovered by scavengers at a garbage dump in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district.  The victim was Keo Kanha, 18, who worked at the 55 Entertainment Club in Daun Penh district’s Chaktomuk commune and lived in Prek Tanou village in Meanchey district’s Chak Angre Leu commune.
