BANGKOK, 19 November 2016 (NNT) – Many people traveled to the Grand Palace to pay homage to the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej over the weekend.

A number of mourners to the late His Majesty arrived at Sanam Luang to wait in line to enter the Grand Palace since early in the morning, with facilities provided by the Joint Command for Peace and Order.

Villagers of Pichit province, most being the underprivileged, elderly and disabled, were scheduled to arrive by the government-arranged transportation after they had left their province at about 07.00 p.m. on 18 November.

The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security led a group of 500 youths and others as volunteers in the providing of conveniences and assistance to the mourners at and around Sanam Luang.

A 70-year-old Phuket villager, namely Pranee Hongwongpaisan, who waited in line on her wheelchair, said she wished to bid farewell to the late monarch with her two daughters and in the name of her husband who could not make it due to health problems.

The Joint Command is now maintaining peace and order in Sanam Luang area. The general public can enter the area just before 04.00 a.m. daily at four designated gates which open at 05.00 a.m.
