Police Discover 600 Marijuana Plants

Featured Replies

Police in Koh Kong province’s Thma Bang district discovered 600 marijuana plants on Friday, although they do not yet know who planted them. The deputy district police chief, who declined to give his name, said that on Friday afternoon police responded to reports of the recently planted plants in Russey Chrum commune and seized the plants.

“Now we have stationed forces to protect this marijuana plantation and we haven’t destroyed it yet as we are searching for the owner,” he said. He noted that there were several owners of the area of land where the plants were found.

He added authorities planned to set fire to the plants on Thursday and that last Friday’s haul was the first such seizure in the district this year. Under article 31 of the Law on Drugs Control, growing narcotic plants carries up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of 50 million riel ($12,500).

Who cares in Cambodia ?

Set fire to the plants? That's a pretty standard way to eliminate the stuff, followed by a visit to the bakery.
