Thai Military Obligation For US/Thai citizens

Featured Replies

Hi forum,

It's been a while since this was discussed on the forum and I hope for guidance. I was born in Thailand and moved to the US when I was a young kid. I am now 35. I had a Thai passport until about 10 years ago when it expired. Apparently, I'm listed on a Thai tabien. When I was a high school student in the US, I was a cadet. I am also currently in graduate school.

I have a trip to Thailand planned for January and found out that this might be a problem as I did not serve in the Thai military. I have some family helping me look into this but I would also appreciate any guidance from the forum.

Thanks,

I think, since your're over 30 y/o you should't have a problem.

Spaniel, thanks. Do you have any additional information for this?

Absolutely no problem (I believe) since you were living overseas.

Hi daveAustin,

Thanks. I hope so. I was told that there was some kind of list at airport immigration and I could be detained. wonder if there are any waivers or paperwork I need to fill out..
