Proof of Thai residency for Uk pension

Featured Replies

Wonder if anyone can help. I need to prove my Thai residency as im about to transfer my Uk pension to a Qrops.. i need something with my name and address on it. i have no utility bills in my name, ive tried the bank ( account doesn't contain address) driving license the same. so i think my only option might be is get my house registration ttanslated..

Any advice would greatly appreciated

MANY THANKS Steve

What are your circumstance of stay where you live in Thailand ??

Thai residency confirmation can be got at your provinces immigration office.

You can sometimes get a utility bill put in your name if you live at the address.

Thailand banks have addresses as do UK Banks.  !!

Uk & Thai driving licences have addresses on in English.

My address is on the back of my thai driving licence.

I recently needed proof of address.

Went to my bank, Kasikorn, and they printed out a statement for me which included name, address and date.

Cost 100 bht.

Get a certificate of residency from Immigration.

A friend needed the same thing last week. He went into SCB and asked for his address to be printed on his statement in English. Staff with very limited English skills said it couldn't be done. My niece, who works for SCB said it could be done. He went back and found an English speaking member of staff and got it the next day.

Who specifically requires this provenance; the UK pension office or the QROP operator? Either one should be able to give you very specific details of exactly what they will accept. Unfortunately, there's plenty of UK entities, both government and financial that are oblivious to the fact that Thailand has its own unique script and that tends to open up the translation can of worms.

And your Thai residential address IS on the back of your Thai DL, written in small font in Thai. My UK bank accepted a sworn Affirmation made at the British Embassy in Bangkok that the address as written in Thai on my Thai DL is where I reside; no translations needed either.

But tell them you need it to buy a car/motorbike or obtain a driving licence. Otherwise they (CW) will say 'mai mee'.
