Hopes for an upturn in exports for last two months
By   THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- THAILAND expects see improvement in its exports for the last two months of this year on the back of the upward trend in agricultural product prices, estimated rises in the price of oil-related products and depreciation of the baht, the Ministry of Commerce said.

In addition, the CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam) market continues to expand.

In October, Thai exports to this market grew 3.6 per cent, driven mainly by a large surge in demand for jewellery.

Meanwhile let's stop importing things such as wheat.  Buy our stuff but don't try and sell us yours.

The hub of hopes

Personally, I believe that their chance of achieving this particualer hope is marginally better than mine of winning the lottery........but then I never buy a ticket.

Yes protectionism is slowly creeping in across the planet. You can tell by the direction of some of the world wide elections. There is more to come starting Sunday in Italy. Reminds of when I played marbles as a kid. Some are playing for funzies and some for keeps.

I agree, boycot the imported wheat and mr Trump might reply by boycotting Thai rice. After that the rest of the world might follow him.

Look how strong the baht is, exports won't improve at this rate.

Hope world rice demand increases and other countries' supply decreases. Similar wishful thinking. Try some genuine macro-economic theory thinking instead.
