Beach vendors asked to relocate in Phuket

PHUKET, 29 November 2016 (NNT) - Phuket authorities have taken serious actions against illegal vendors on public beaches.

Phuket Governor Chokchai Dejamornthan visited Surin Beach in Thalang district along with the 3rd Naval Area Command Chief Vice Admiral Surapol Kuptaphan and the 41st Military Circle Commander Major General Akom Pongprom and other local authorities.

They asked vendors selling food and other items to follow the beach regulations and keep the area clean. Vendors were also asked to cooperate with other public agencies in keeping the beaches clear of business activities that are not allowed under the law.

The move is also in line with the National Council for Peace and Order’s policy to return the beach to tourists and local residents. More actions will be taken to further ensure these natural attractions remain unharmed by humans.

Vendors, who were evicted from the beaches, are able to relocate to new designated places where they can continue to make a living and provide for their families. Phuket Governor Chokchai also instructed the Office of Local Administration Organization of Thalang to improve the efficiency of the facilities and infrastructure surrounding the beaches.

I hope the officials didn't have to use the toilet while they were there. There isn't one.

How many beaches in Thailand, have toilets ?? How many restaurants in Thailand have toilets ??

For a "world class beach destination" our beaches are seriously lacking.  Not enough ( if any) bins, undermanned and under equipped lifeguards, serious lack of toilets and public showers, and way too many aggressive parasail and jet ski rental mini thugs thinking they own the place.

Our beach in Rayong as toilet facilities. But of course you have to pay 3 bt to use them.

The crowds will follow the venders.

Well,  Phuket!  I don't like the sounds of  the situation  so I guess

I will spend my vacation of 2 months in other parts of Thailand..

The whole situation is like 'whack a mole', the moment the officials depart, the vendors come scurrying back to rip off the tourists.
