webfact Posted December 1, 2016 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Private sector to celebrate Thai fragrant jasmine rice’s winner's title BANGKOK, 2 December 2016 (NNT) – The private sector will organize a party to celebrate Thai fragrant jasmine rice’s title win from the World Rice Conference. Commerce Ministry Permanent Secretary Wiboonlak Ruamrak said that the Rice Exporters Association of Thailand will organize a party to celebrate Thai fragrant jasmine rice’s title win from the World Rice Conference, which was held in Chiang Mai during 16-18 November. The party will be held on 8 December 2016 at the Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok. The Associations of Thai Farmers, the Thai Rice Mill Association and embassies of countries that had bought Thai rice have been invited to the event. Thai Rice Exporters Association President Charoen Laothammathas said that the prize was testament to Thai fragrant jasmine rice's top stature in the world and as the pride of the Thai people. I once mentioned to some rice farmers down in SE Texas that the Thai growers had obtained a patent, they laughed. Then they said we've been growing it for years.
