$1m ADB aid in support of Thai water management
By  THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- THE THAI government is set to receive a US$1 million (Bt35 milion) technical assistance to help improve the country’s overall water resource management efficiency, starting from river basin level, as well as strengthen capacity development for river basin integrated planning in the country.

The grant, provided by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) and administered by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will be implemented over a period of one|and a half years, starting in November 2016. The project is aligned with the recently approved national water resource management strategic plan of the Thai government, with the Department of Water Resource under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment acting as the executing agency.

Is this a joke?

Maybe some oversight by the Japanese will result in better water policy or results in Thailand.

Japanese don't make jokes, only pranks and also they are very good.

Guess they want to protect their investments (factories) since the Thai won't do it...

Prepare for overseas trips to study other nations' water management programs.

Will Hawaii be first choice?

I wouldnt get too excited.  These chump change technical assistance contracts are usually either preludes to, or part of, much larger loans that have to one day be paid back.  ADB - as its full name suggests, is a bank.  They are generally in the business of loaning not giving despite their altruistic web home page.

With 33,000,000 million tourists coming next year according to Thai figures why would this grant be necessary. Just asking.
