Word from the hood is that Ludo has reisgned/been sacked..

I know that he has had a very bad back this Year & hasn't been working a great deal so it's a shame as i love the old Boy..

However, the INTERESTING part is his proposed replacement, someone right out of my manor, Plaistow/Canning Town, West Ham Boy & joined at the hip with a certain Ex Manchester City Manager which makes it all very nervy for a certain Italian Chimpanzee me thinks..

Kevin Hitchcock !!

West Ham secure Olympic Stadium

By David Bond

BBC sports editor

West Ham will be anchor tenants for the Olympic Stadium after the government agreed to put in an extra £25m towards the costs of converting the venue.

The additional money takes the Treasury's contribution to around £60m.

Adapting the stadium could cost between £150m and £190m.

But the deal was secured only after West Ham agreed to increase their own funding of the project by £5m, to £15m. They will move in from August 2016 and pay around £2m a year rent.

Under conversion plans, the roof will be extended and the seating capacity reduced from 80,000 to 60,000, with a retractable system allowing the venue to be converted from an athletics arena to football stadium within days.

Seats will slide over the running track to bring West Ham fans closer to the action.

The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) will begin work on the roof in the autumn and officials hope it will be ready for the autumn of 2015 - in time for the Rugby World Cup.

After that the stadium will close again to reconfigure the stadium's lower seating bowl and re-open in time for West Ham to start playing their games there in August 2016.

Although West Ham were appointed preferred bidders by the LLDC three months ago, there were still fears the agreement could collapse over how to finance the transformation of the stadium.

Initially the club had been reluctant to pay anything, but over time they increased their contribution to £10m and are now prepared to pay £15m.

The rest of the money will be drawn from a range of sources, including London Mayor Boris Johnson's budget, a £40m loan from Newham Council and around £20m of borrowings by the LLDC.

To guarantee the 99-year lease, West Ham also had to agree to pay a proportion of any future sale of the club back to the LLDC.

Johnson argued that the move into the stadium significantly enhanced West Ham's value and that the public purse should share in any profits generated from a sale by owners David Gold and David Sullivan.

In response, West Ham have agreed to pay a one-off windfall back to the LLDC if they sell the club in the next 10 years. West Ham say that is a sign of Gold and Sullivan's long-term commitment to the club.

The deal will be a huge relief to the mayor and the government, who feared the stadium could become a major drain on taxpayers.

As well as £2m-a-year in rent, the club will share catering and hospitality revenue with LLDC but it is understood West Ham will take all ticket and merchandising income.

Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn is seeking a judicial review of the decision but the LLDC is confident that will not stall the process.

Sources insist Hearn is contesting the LLDC's failure to do a joint deal with the Premier League team and Leyton Orient, rather than the decision to place West Ham in the stadium.

The LLDC and West Ham will now work together to sell the naming rights for the stadium to a major sponsor.

Initial talks with the International Olympic Committee and the British Olympic Association have begun on whether they can use the word "Olympic" in any future naming of the venue.

This is thought to be extremely unlikely unless the sponsor of the stadium is also one of the Olympic movement's big commercial partners.

Its an insane situation....and the £40m loan from one of London's poorest boroughs is laughable.

Most West Ham fans don't live in the area now anyway!

Sponsorship deals will be interesting...especially for a ground you are renting. Will that money be going to pay off the taxpayers contribution to the renovations?

Not sure I want to hear the answer to that one....!

From the report it seems this outcome will be less of a drain on the taxpayer, and the government have already thrown enough public funding around in the first instance to build this Olympic park in the east end anyway.

Indeed some interesting questions will need to be answered in time, but it's a positive for West Ham and Stratford.

Be interesting to see how effective the retractable seating is.....and how often you manage to fill the seats.

Better invest in the team or you might end up with egg on yer faces! biggrin.png

Can't really see the point of creating more seating if they ain't going to be used 40.gif

It will at least enable more away fans, think about it.

That said most Spurs fans are like yourself,of the armchair critique.

Ah yes....that will explain why our ground is sold out for every game and over 20000 on the waiting list for a season ticket.

Spurs Possible Relocation

There have been a number of plans in the past for relocation. The first, revealed in 2001, was to relocate to the 43,000-seat stadium at Pickett's Lock which was being planned for the 2005 World Athletics Championships as the centerpiece of London's bid to host the games; however the games were awarded to Helsinki, Finland, instead. However, the plans for Tottenham to move to this site were looking unlikely by October 2001 as expansion now appeared to be the club's preferred option.[21] Over the next few years various other schemes were mooted, including a relocation to the rebuilt Wembley Stadium (which opened in 2007)[22] and even to the stadium being built for the 2012 Olympic Games, which Tottenham had planned to rebuild it as a football-only stadium.[23] In 2003, there was also talk that Tottenham would ground-share with Arsenal at their new Emirates Stadium from its completion in 2006.[24]

Transport

JOKE.

We will be anchor tenant, no the only user, so Newham will get their money back in the long term. I think they also get our current ground in some way and it's of more use to them than the Olympic site. As for the size of the stadium, it doesn't matter that much if we don't fill it, but with the promised cheaper tickets and the obviously better transport links (and hopefully not Allardyce football), attendances should be better than the 35k we get now. It should be win-win.

I have mixed feelings about the move. On one hand, I've been going to UP since 1975 and have had many great times there. But on the other, It's a pain to get to with it's inadequate transport and neighbourhood that gets crappier by the year.

As for Spurs having a 20k season ticket waiting list, maybe it's true, but more likely Daniel Levy pulling figures out of his back side to get something he wants.

They like to make out UP is bad, but Tottenham is pretty dodgy and even harder to get to. SHL indeed.

They take over the tenancy in 2016.

Apparently the FA have pencilled in a derby match with Charlton to kick off that season.

August 2016 Season.

Two of its stands will be named after former Hammers stars Trevor Brooking and Bobby Moore to mirror Upton Park.

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady said: "It was important to me that we struck a deal that would stand the test of time and that represented the right deal for West Ham United and our loyal and patient supporters.

"The consultation we have promised them will now begin and we can't wait to work with them to create a stunning new home that befits the pride, passion and tradition that the world associates with West Ham United."

Absolutely overjoyed with the new move.

They will have new arab owners in place before they move in, expect it to be named something like Qatar stadium and the owners right now making a huge profit like Thaksin did with city.

I'm afraid your assumptions are incorrect, there is a clause stating that the club can not be sold by the current owners for 10 years, showing their long term commitment thus halting exactly what you described.

The naming of the stadium is available so it's highly likely it could be snapped up by a Gulf airline or the like.
