Hi all,

I have a question for you guys.

I am a UK national and i have an 8 yr old daughter born here in Thailand who has a UK passport.

Me and my ex are divorced and we have 50-50 custody of my daughter, however she stays with me permanently because her mum lives in Sweden with her new husband.

My question is this: If i wanted to take my daughter back to the UK to live would she be accepted into the schooling system if i didn't have her birth certificate and permission from her mum?

(As her mum has her birth certificate and i have no way of getting in touch with her)

All answers greatly received.

Thanks.

Get in touch with the schools in the UK and find out if a birth certificate is a requirement, or try to get a copy in Thailand. You may need a letter from your ex wife to permit your daughters travel outside Thailand, this is something to be aware of too. You may need a court order to permit international travel otherwise. Shouldn't be difficult if the mother is absent.

Best of luck, hope you get the young one and yourself out.

Thanks Damo,

It may sound daft but where do i try to get another birth certificate? The hospital she was born?

You get it from the Tessaban (Municipality) she was born in.

But you need the relevant documentation from the hospital to take to Tessaban
