Why Chantaburi is pleasant when Trat super suxx and look like a hole

Featured Replies

Hello, do you know any history about Chantaburi development ? Compared to Trat this city is great, even the night market cannot compare with Trat end of the world dead atmosphere.

Trat is closer to Cambodia border, shouldn't it be better ? No western food, no nice bars, nothing at Trat !

But maybe it is because nobody stops at Trat and everybody goes to Cambodia or Koh Chang ?

If the only reason your traveling in Thailand is western food and bars better just return to your own country. A Burger King likely on every corner and or a bar. Always booze at your nearest 7/11.

My tgf's family live in Trat and it really is the pits. No restaurants, no bars, no shops. I dread it when we go there. Their idea of a fun time is a trip to Tescos.

Nonsense. Trat has a nice lake with a scenic road running around it that the locals use as a cycling track. There are some nice places to eat and drink there.

Only the lake is nice, nothing else, how stupid it is to call nice a city with only a place where nobody goes.

Chantaburi as similar and EVERYTHING else is better else. Anyway, I do not ask an opinion about what is nice or not (especially to people who don't know anything) I am asking WHY CHANTABURI HAS DEVELOPED NICELY BUT TRAT NOT ?

Look on Agoda, hundreds of nice hotels and front beach rooms for less than 1000 thb, but almost nothing at TRAT..

So true !!! But why ? The city is large, has many people, but has nothing ?1

Trat city is pretty drab, but there are some very good places to eat there. personally, i never particularly liked spending anytime in Trat as there wasnt much there to do. Chanthaburi is far more developed, but thats probably to do with its trading status, especially gemstones. Both provinces though IMO are great places to live.

At least you give credit to the very nice lake. There's also a nice little hotel by the river in Trat. Baan Rim Nam or a similar name. I stayed there recently. Peaceful and scenic with very friendly staff. You can rent motorbikes there and go for scenic trips around the lake. Nice place.

Yes Chathaburi is an incredibly nice provincial city. So you think it's because of the stones business that it is so developed ?

Gems and fruit farming have made it a relatively wealthy province, so that would certainly be a reason fir its development.

Where do you like to stay at Chanthaburi, or near the Cambodian border ?

Thank you.
