BANGKOK: -- THAILAND’S ICT Development Index (IDI) ranking in 2016 from the International Telecom Union (ITU) fell to 82 this year from 79 last year, according to the ITU annual Measuring the Information Society Report.

In terms of total index value, the value of Thailand in 2016 rose to 5.18 from 5.05 despite the ranking drop.

According to Jesada Sivaraks, secretary to the vice chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), these figures indicate that even though Thailand had a strong 4G networks, the country had not pushed hard enough to drive people to access them. At the same time, other countries have also improved in terms of ICT development, he said.

He added that in terms of ICT infrastructure readiness, Thailand’s ranking moved up three levels from 92 last year to 89.

Value rising but ranking drop should, in every other ordinary circumstance, directly reflect on corporate management.

The Junta appears to be taking the country in the wrong direction.

From where I stand and the telecom service quality I pay for, it looks like more like 30 points than 3...... I live in the heart of BKK and can't complete a cellular phone call without to be disconnected several times....

I can only use my phone 50% of the time in my office on Asoke.
(Sometimes a blessing though).

That could be the "listeners" deciding your conversation is not worthy of transmission and shutting it down ~sic~

Nope. Thailand is the same as always. Everyone else moved up.

Really well wait till tomorrow and a Thai will redo the math so Thailand will move up to first place TIT

I would take this as a sign that things are tough here.

To much access to information defeats their purpose. Why do you think they want to crack down on Facebook.

Well, my home country is near the top of the list.  Admittedly, the service there is flawless.  Thing is I pay 25% of the monthly cost/fee here that I do in my home country.  So on balance, what I get here is sufficient.

Don't worry Thailand, as Alberta has plunged in its ratings, and the

NDP party can take all the credit for that, as this party is going to make

the provinces businesses and tax payers  pay a carbon tax starting

in January 2017  yah,  us,  we are   all  so  lucky.

Geezer
