Deputy PM ensures security for people on New Year holiday

Do all the people who will be waving candles in Bkk need extra security or just fire prevention ?

Just beware of foreign gangs preying on tourists!!!..............Yeah Right!

So in other words there will be police on duty over the New Year holiday just like every other day of the year. And this bloke seems to think this is important enough to make an announcement about?

They did this last New Year. Road deaths increased 11%. They did it again during Songkran. Road deaths increased 20%. Keep in mind that only those that die at the scene of the accident are counted as road deaths keeping the numbers extremely low.

Does this mean the rest of the year you're on your own, good luck Chuck? He can't ensure protection anyway, it is like ordering the beaches to clean themselves.

I wonder if civil servants are expected to do their required PM designated exercises over the new year holiday period?

Is n't it the person that went on a holiday on tax payers money and went to America for a deal about choppers ????

perhaps they will be able to check traffic from the air.

Him. Big. So. Big. Khrap.

so the news is - the RT Police will be "urged" to actually do their job over the holiday period.

" from December 22 – 31 a crackdown on all criminal activities will be carried out in every territory. "

"Royal Thai Police has also announced that from December 22 – 31 a crackdown on all criminal activities will be carried out in every territory".

Is that not there job 24/7 365 days of the year ....... no, just 10 days is okay leaving 355 to play on their phones, drink tea ...................

Same old PR spin rolled out every December. The death toll on the roads will be horrendous and you wont see police on the roads, sadly nothing changes.Thailand in many ways still languishing in the 3rd world mentality

"Security boosted to ensure public safety during New Year celebration"

Sorry I lost track, is this "boost" on top of the last "boost", and the one before it?

If so, there must be one policeman for every person in Thailand by now.

I feel safe.

They need bins but i bet they won't come back since it soooo safe.

"...Deputy PM Prawit ensures security..."

Oh sure!

Are you sure the jovial little homunculus is using the correct homonym ???

Is he indeed ensuring our safety, or is it just his assurance, and we should still ensure we are insured.

The deputy PM also urged the public to alert officers of irregularities and use the roads carefully in order to prevent and decrease road accidents.

What constitutes an irregularity?  Five children driving a scooter?  A farang with dreadlocks?

Or do you go the other direction and alert officers of irregularities like someone driving safely and respectfully?
