BANGKOK: -- The Met office announced today that  Thailand can expect a further drop in temperatures of around 3-5 degrees over the next few days in the hilly areas.

Those living in elevated areas were warned to take note and prepare accordingly, reports Daily News.

Meanwhile a depression in the Gulf of Thailand continues to cause rain - light showers can be expected in Bangkok and the Eastern Seaboard while areas further south will experience more rain from Nakorn Sri Thammarat through Chumporn to Prajuab Khiri Khan.

High seas are also expected in the gulf with waves of 2-3 meters until Monday. People heading out to sea were warned to take note.

Average highs and lows at the weekend were likely to be as follows:

Chiang Mai 15 - 31 degrees C

North East  16 - 30

Central        21 - 32

Eastern       20 - 32

South          22 - 33

Nippy in the North East this morning.

Very cool all day, by Thai standards. My phone forecast 25 then 27 on Saturday. Back to normal and 34 by middle of next week.

Since the overly long and very hot hot season the weather in my area (Kalasin) has been fantastic. Lots of rain in a very long wet season with only one or two storms. Now an early winter.

Not that nippy , the clouds kept the temp's up at dawn , but kept the sun from heating the place up. Even some rain here up north ... well for 10 minutes...

It was 24.5 degrees inside the house today, it's normally 29-30 degrees before I turn the AC on in my office so that's a big difference here in Hua Hin.

I'm going for dinner sitting outside tonight and I might have to wear long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt. Shocking!

This morning in CM was so cool , it felt like a Norwegian summer day .

Everyone around me is complaining how cold it is , but I love every minute , more please!!

Not really cold..just cool and refreshing.

Tgf says it is cold and I tell her "you don't know what cold is" . All relative to what you are use to I guess.

Today I was in Khon Kaen (city).

Felt like the coldest day of this year so far due to no glimpse of the sun (overcast all day) combined with a chilly wind.

Down here in not so sunny Pattaya it has been a very cool and overcast day with a stiff breeze for most of the time, I have had a T shirt on for most of the day and could really do with a pair of socks but I'll just warm me feet up on the Mrs come bedtime, that will give her a jolt   I have just checked my weather station and it's currently 24.8 outside at 2215 hrs, no doubt it will drop a bit more.

Yeah, I know, my SO is nicking my warm weather clothes. For me, a T-shirt is enough. The cold shower is becoming a bit of a challenge though.

No air-con tonight , need a warm blanket lol .

Great swimming weather weather for crazy farang -- no Thais in sight.

This morning. In Pattaya it was a good time for a cold fire and a few warm beers...????

What is a Chiang vest? If you mean Chang, then I don't have any of those in my wardrobe. Why make snide remarks when you don't know me and can't even type properly? Just makes you look like an idiot with too much time on your hands.

Opps type error, too many Changs last night!
