FritzB
I have three cats that I'll need to take to Malaysia (Penang) with me 3 months from now. I have a local Thai vet who's helping me, but due to language issues I'd like to double check here that I haven't misunderstood anything. I will fly directly from Suvarnabhumi to Penang. All three cats are: - 12+ months old - Fully vaccinated according to Thai & Malaysian requirements - Chipped & have chip certificates - Sterilised (Rabies test isn't required by Malaysia.) My vet tells me this is how it'll work (unless I misunderstood something): 1. 7 days before departure, he'll give me a "vet certificate" (?) & check the cats (treat for fleas, worms etc., although they're treated every 3 months anyway) 2. 7 days before departure, I'll need to apply for an import permit online from Malaysian authorities 3. 1 day before departure, I'll need to visit the Pet Travel Office (?) at Suvarnabhumi, show them the paperwork my vet will provide and get my export certificate (?) 4. Check in, fly to Penang, cats will be quarantined for 7 days, done. Bonus question: - Thai Smile seems to currently be the only airline with direct flights between Suvarnabhumi and Penang. Is anyone familiar with their pet policies & track record? Thank you :) Edited December 17, 2016 by FritzB
Goinghomesoon
Hope it all worked out. We exported our cat to Australia via 6 months in KL back in 2011. The Thailand-Malaysia leg was pretty easy.
