"We are, we are, we are the mods" I sang to myself as I weaved through the twisties from Khun Yuam to Doi Inthanon on the scooter with little wheels.

First of all some advice for those from outside CM, "stay in Lamphun", reason:- it's nice... and if you don't you will arrive in CM and never find your hotel, stay in Lamphun and you will. Ahhem....Unless you have a GPS. So that's where we started the trip, me and MrsB, left the truck at the hotel (free) and headed towards CM at 06.30 to miss the city traffic. Top tip.

Breakfast at a Thai restaurant on the road north out of CM clear of the melay, lots of coffee, hearty breakfast, ready to do our first proper road-trip of the season.

The Filano was packed, lightest bag on the back rack, another between my legs and and the rest in the ample compartment under the seat....and some spare capacity for fruit and souvenirs. The bike had had it's first service in KK, early at 600km and was going to be reliable, for the 600 to come.

With about a half dozen stops en-route we arrived in Pai at about noon and found a nice hotel to rest my old bones. That evening had a well needed foot and back massage, while the Mrs went SHOPPING!!! I seemed to remember that CM to Pai was a long and arduous trip when I did it with the truck a few years back, but them I had my sister doing the back seat driving thing in my ear that time. That makes every trip feel like an eternity, but anyway it was quite easy on the scooter with a nice comfy seat, I was just a bit unfit...and old.

Day 2, An early start as we set off for Mae Hong Son, when it got a bit chilly, it was thermal undies, fleece and rain-jacket as a windbreak, no worries.. Stopped at a mountain top rest-stop to find a young Argentine girl dressed in a long thin flimsy dress, shivering uncontrollably. Her boyfriend was damn cold too, funny, except an accident waiting to happen.

MHS was a little disappointing, but well, it's a small town, nice supper, hotel ok, just, well with all that fresh air I sleep like a log anyway.

Day 3 Super breakfast at "Mom and Son", bacon and eggs, plus homemade bread, MrsB wanted to talk all day with "Mom", but I dragged her off by her hair and we headed south. We weren't sure where we we going to stay between there and Lamphun, so just kept going, stopping often. The roads were good and interesting, so the scooter ate up the miles and before we knew it we were just 100 clicks for Lamphun....mmm 3.30, that's not far.

As we filled up with juice, some enormous woman entering the 7/11 decided to adjust her nickers, displaying most of ample (understatement) buttocks to all of us who had the misfortune to be looking in that direction. I kept completely silent as I noticed her husband (Big Daddy mk II) had bullet holes down the side of his truck (see pics below).

The road from Khum Yuan to Lamphun up and over the mountain (1520m) was a bikers heaven (well almost), save for a few potholes and an odd rut and that 100 or so km was gone way too soon....kept thinking.. I must do this again.

But first it's Nan province for us on the Honda Shadow...hopefully???? But after the luxury of the big-arsed seat of the Filano, that NV seat needs work, big time.

My mate Dave is back in Thailand in January, threatening to buy a new Forza, if so it will be back to MHS for me too then. Hopefully with the girls along, although Dave's wife has a habit of jumping off when she gets scared :shock1:.....and he crashes!!!

Ooops, I said that out load didn't I, hope he doesn't read this forum.
