EC holds 3 year work announcement

BANGKOK, 20 December 2016 (NNT) – The Election Commission (EC) has announced its work results over the past 3 years as well as a 5 area strategy for ensuring the quality of elections.

EC Chairman Supachai Somcharoen led the announcement on the occasion of the current panel’s third year in office, acknowledging that his commission entered into duty during a time of political conflict. While the EC was unable to carry out the 2014 general election, Supachai said it learned many lessons and has plans for faster, more efficient voting, allowing for greater participation by the public in the nation’s democratic system.

The EC head announced that the EC has a new 5 area strategy, which includes the creation of an anti-election fraud network, development of election officials, vote-buying free communities and improved investigation into cases of election fraud. He asserted that his commission has proven over the past 3 years that it respects the Constitution and the nation’s laws.

He concluded by assuring that the EC is a unified body ready to incorporate technological advancements and ready to ensure a clean and transparent election in 2017.

Unable or unwilling?

Speaking of elections, Mr has been very tight lipped about a 2017 election. Don't anyone hold your breath.
