December 21, 20169 yr Landlords controlling more than 5,000 homes across Phnom Penh have heeded the advice of Prime Minister Hun Sen, agreeing not to raise the cost of rent after the government decided to decrease the price for water. Cham Prasidh, the Industry and Handicrafts Minister, sent a letter to landlords last week saying the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority decided to decrease the selling price of water to 1,030 riel per cubic meter. Most Phnom Penh residents pay somewhere between 1,100 and 1,200 riel per cubic meter for water in their homes or apartments. “Up to now, there are 5,343 rented homes, or about 115,668 rooms, that have cooperated and implemented this price. Keep continuing to sell at that price,” he said. In the letter to landlords, the ministry said the next step will be to make a similar deal for homes on the outskirts of the city where many garment workers live. The premier’s original call for landlords not to raise rents came in response to a hike in the minimum wage for workers in the garment and textile sectors. read more http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/33395/water-prices--to-be-lowered/ ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
