NCPO chief invokes Article 44 to issue new orders

BANGKOK, 21st December 2016 (NNT) - The Chief of the National Council for Peace and Order has invoked his special power under the interim Constitution to issue new orders.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is also the NCPO Chief, has invoked Article 44 of the Provisional Constitution to issue an order to add Tambon At Samat of Nakhon Phanom province and Tambon Ban Kao of Kanchanaburi province to the list of the country's special economic zones.

At the same time, he issued another order to suspend the selection of new members of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission until there are only six members left, or the draft Act on the Organization to Assign Radio Frequencies and to Regulate the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Services is put into effect.

In addition, the NCPO Chief has ordered the NBTC to recall some radio frequencies and to reallocate them for maximum public benefit.
