BANGKOK: -- The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is ready to clarify to all doubters and opponents of the computer crime law and to work with them as well as other parties concerned so that the law will be acceptable by the majority.

Digital Economy and Society Minister Pichet Darongkaveroj stressed the need for an updated computer crime law to cope with the fast development of digital technology.

As the world is on transition towards digital system, he said people in the society too must adapt and adjust and so does the Thai society.

Pointing out at the misunderstanding toward the new computer crime law, the minister noted that the people who misunderstand the law account for just 5-10 percent, but they could post a problem to Thailand’s transition to digital economy and society.

Nevertheless, he said it was necessary to clear up the doubt and misunderstanding so that all parties could work together in harmony to achieve the objective.

The minister reiterated that the law has nothing to do with single gateway and will not threaten public right of access to information and liberties.

So now that they have passed a law that nobody seemed to want. The government is now ready to work with other parties so that"the law will now be acceptable by the majority". Why didn't they just do that in the first place. Really do not think anything is going to change now that the powers that be have gotten what they wanted. This is just a B.S. session trying to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear

Yes, step forward and work together in harmony to achieve the objective by signup on the list for further talks (re-education ) and mutual harmony (attitude adjustments)

Just joking. I know those sort of things do not really happen here it is just the crazy conspiracy thinkers that believe lies like that that. The government is only doing what is best for all concerned. Without these laws, very bad people would do bad things and hack government servers and steal government information and release it on the internet for all to see.  That is not right.

Thailand does not need people like Snowden!

They want to see what they can get away with first.  Then when they get caught they say it was all a misunderstanding.  We will work hard to bring harmony and happiness to the people.   It is the old better to act first and beg for forgiveness later rather than ask first and face refusal.   They just want to see what they can get away with.  How far they can push things

What a Herculean task. Is the country suffering a brain drain never hear much on this. I can see the seeds of this germinating.

Presumably he believes what he's spouting. Evidently the 5 - 10 per cent who misunderstand the law are far outnumbered by those who object to it, and understand it.
