By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- TWO Indians were arrested at a Bangkok hotel yesterday for a high-profile murder they allegedly ordered in their home country.

Mahimananda Mishra, 63, and Basanta Kumar Bal, 69, are wanted in eastern Odisha state.

“Mishra is a mafia-style figure, with more than 50 gunmen under his wing,” Immigration Bureau chief Pol Lt General Nattorn Prohsunthorn said, as he led a team to arrest the two suspects at the hotel at about 11am.

Mishra brought his family members, along with close henchmen, including Bal, to Thailand on December 20.

This mask thing in Thailand really looks stupid! You don't see this elsewhere.

It is because HRW(Human Rights Watchdog) given notice to Thailand. They cannot parade the accused openly anymore. You are innocent, until you are proven guilty. It make sense. So, no more pointing fingers by Thai Police arrest shows.

Thailand has become capital of Criminals and Gangsters!

One reason is visa on arrival. :saai:

Absolutely NOT! Maybe 20-30 years ago but not anymore. The lowest scum is hiding in Cambodia, Philippines and various South American countries. Thailand is the place where most of them get caught.

May be with European and American passports. For Indian Mafia Gangsters, they need visa in advance to go to Cambodia and Philippines. I hope all entries are passed to Interpol verification process before these scums are coming here and get pissed off. I strongly support bio-metric identification for all entries to catch these scums to make the holiday destination safe for everyone. Also, this can prevent pedophiles, mafia, gangsters entering anywhere in the world.

One wonders how they managed to get through immigration at their Departure Airport in India, obviously no flag for suspected murderers,so they get out, come here, and possibly murder someone else.

Sounds like the Indian Police system is on a par with the BIB here.......

Pretty much, only that on many occasions wanted criminals succeed in eluding the police while remaining in country. Getting harder, though, what with cash being phased out and smartphones abound.
