hitthegroundrunning
We are cleaning Kamala Beach this Saturday 31st from 9 am to 11 am. Meeting place is the car park outside the police station. Come and help us make sure that 2016 ends how we mean to start 2017: never giving up. Next year we hope to work with the local government to ensure that we protect the marine life off and on Phuket's beaches and to continue educating people about the dangers of plastic pollution. See you on Saturday.

KarenBravo
Thought you guys had visited Rawai beach. A week ago it was spotless. Never seen it so clean. Turned out it was the Or Bor Tor. Tragically, three, or four high tides later, it was back to it's usual scruffy look.

Could "Trash Hero" possibly be a loss of face for the Or Bor Tor, thus seeing the initiative shut down? Hope not.
hitthegroundrunning
Hi all, Thanks for your kind words. We work on rotation so one beach a week is cleaned (www.facebook.com/trashherophuket) Our main aim is to be put out of business! We hope the local government will finally start employing people to clean every beach, every day. I plan to meet with their reps this month to discuss this and preventative measures too (educating fishermen, charging for plastic bags, biodegradable cutlery and bags, smoking areas, bins, etc). I want Phuket to be a beacon of sustainability...who knows! Cheers, HTGR
