EC accepts charter drafters' decision to have provincial EC representatives

 

BANGKOK, 26 December 2016 (NNT) - The Chairman of the Election Commission (EC) has acknowledged the decision by the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) on the establishment of provincial EC representatives. 

EC chairman Supacahi Somcharoen spoke of the CDC’s establishment of provincial EC representatives, saying that the electoral body must now accept and support the decision as it is the EC’s duty to carry out stipulated policies. 

As a result, the EC will no longer be submitting its input regarding provincial representatives as the decision has already been made. The EC will now focus on drafting guidelines of its responsibilities to coincide with the new legislation.
