BANGKOK: -- The Ministry of Transport yesterday released a convoy of service vehicles to provide assistance and help to motorist during the coming New Year holiday break.

This is part of a campaign under the ‘Considerate Driving, Obeying Traffic Laws’ campaign that aims to look after motorist safety.

The launch ceremony was presided over by Transport minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith.

Under the campaign, 50 rest points will be setup at strategic locations all over the country so that tired drivers can rest both themselves and their vehicles before proceeding on their journey.

As part of the effort, road construction contractors have been asked to temporarily hold off on construction work from December 28 to January 4,  2017 to provide the greatest degree of convenience as well as safety for road users.

Not really sure what these people/vehicles are actually going to do. Are they like AAA/RAC?

They dont need to do anything except  dress appropriately

If this is a bit like Help the Aged I will look for them on my way to Nan on Friday on the Forza . I need lots of help getting my leg over these days.

You can't teach what you don't know. Utter waste of time.

Well If I was having a nap in a layby and I woke to see one of those characters peering in at me it would certainly clear the fog of sleep from the old bonce!

Just another ceremony with a pig-out buffet lunch to pretend to the boss that someone is doing "something".

Roadside tents, penguins promoting these 'convoys', police checkpoints... same-same every year..end result same-same every year!

None of what the police do each year will make any difference to the way the bull-headed arrogant male drivers behave on the roads..they will Still be bullying other road-users, flashing their lights before forcing their way past, undertaking at speed, swerving from lane to lane..etc,etc (We've all seen it daily)

So over the next week or so by adding heaps more vehicles travelling on the roads, & lashings of liquor inside Somchai before he aims his Fortuner at warp-speed down the busy road..we're gonna see the same accident scenes as any other year.. If anyone needs a big pat-on-the-back over this next week it's the folk in the various 'Rescue Foundations'..& NOT the lazy sods sat in a roadside-tent with the TV on!

I wonder how many of them will have those blouses dirty at the end of the day. White blouses for car-engineers :cheesy: And brown suits for the police :shock1:

Why are all the Govt. initiative programs only for 7 days? Last time I checked, there were 365 days in the calendar. No doubt the person that came up with this great plan has trousered a nice chunk of the allotted budget, kerching, nice Xmas/New Year bonus. New Mercedes on order perhaps, lol...
