Hi

 

I was wondering if anyone buys the fresh oyster meat from Foodland or Gourmet Market and can attest to its quality and safety.  It usually comes in a small plastic container for 40 baht.  Eating fresh shellfish has a higher risk generally and particularly here in Thailand.  I am a fan of smoked oysters but I can't find them so I am considering the fresh oysters.

It's safe, but the taste isn't particularly nice (in my opinion).  Much stronger and coarser than cold water oysters.

 

I've seen tinned smoked oysters in TOPS (or possibly Villa).

As above post, I'm not sure how the taste fresh.
Guess they are more intended to use for cooking such as Hoi Tod, Pad Thai, Yum, etc...
